Home How NCME Works

NCME TV™ is an online service of one hour CME video programs presented by national thought leaders on important state-mandated and other topics of interest to practicing clinicians in addition to Medical News Alerts.

The service is only available through institutional subscriptions and provides convenient and secure access for staff and attending physicians of the subscribing hospital. Here’s how it works:

  1. Every month, a new CME-certified video is developed, released, and posted at ncmetv.com.
  2. Physicians associated with your hospital receive an e-mail announcement alerting them when a new program is available. Program details (title, description, learning objectives, credit designations) are included in the e-mail. NCME also provides your hospital with printable PDF posters and flyers that can be posted and distributed to your staff by your CME Manager, Director of Medical Education, or Medical Librarian.
  3. Physicians use a personal password to access the online program and receive CME credit for viewing it. A self-assessment quiz is included as part of the activity. The programs are available on-demand and can be accessed 24/7. Many hospitals use the programs as a centerpiece for their own monthly CME meetings.
  4. Self-assessment quizzes and activity evaluations can be completed online and CME certificates are automatically generated from the site.

Daily Medical News Alerts

On a daily basis, your staff and attending physicians can take advantage of “Daily Medical News Alerts.” These brief stories provide you and members of the medical staff with breaking daily news. Simply read the stories, review the “Heart of the Matter” take away message, and complete the online evaluation to earn up to 0.25 Category 1 CreditsTM per story). The stories not only keep physicians informed about daily breaking medical news, but help them prepare for patient inquiries from patients who have seen the story on TV or in the laypress.

E-mail announcement

When a new program has been released, your staff and attending physicians will receive a detailed HTML e-mail (NCMEmail™) with the following information:

  1. Program title and description
  2. Faculty presenters’ names and affiliations
  3. Learning objectives
  4. Amount of credit offered
  5. Suggested reading list
  6. Hyperlink to program
  7. Coming attractions

Note: NCME TV™ is happy to send program announcements directly to your physicians if you provide their e-mail addresses. Alternatively, NCME can send each program announcement only to you for forwarding to your staff and attending physicians.

Printable PDF poster and flyers

Quality CME programs only benefit patient outcomes when they are utilized by physicians. Toward that end, NCME provides the means to spread the word about each new release. In addition to NCMEmail™ announcements, NCME provides PDF files of full color posters and brochures with each release. (Black and white versions are also offered for departments without color printers.) You may print out as many copies as you need to alert your staff and attendings of each new program. As an enhancement to hospital-based CME, many subscribers use the NCME video as the centerpiece for their own internal CME meetings.
